Research

My continued artistic exploration is steeped in visual-based imagery and the spatial relationship for the viewer.  Below are three areas of continued research that I am actively investigating.

Instructional Text: Over the years I have struggled to find supportive texts in the instruction of Sculpture that provide safe practices, historic and current methods to incorporate into my pedagogy.

Manufacturing Explorations: Part of my ongoing research focusing on the “Offshoring" of U.S. manufacturing, I am focusing on the ubiquitous items that were a staple of US manufacturing for decades.

Non-Defined Video Compositions: Going back to my roots in video, I am exploring color, shape, form in a non-defined way.  Working with video that is generated sometimes without intention.  Goal is to present a time-based image scapes that immerse the viewer in them without identification subject or imagery.

Text Book: "The Sculpture Book"

Description: A work in progress manuscript, this text is meant to support the instruction of Sculpture. From general terminology, process, concept, practices and historical relevance. Will have collaborators, step-by-step processes and imagery ranging from historical to contemporary.

Manufacturing: "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"

Description: Examples of a new body of work called "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."  Premise of this collection is to shed light on the quite replacement of US manufactured goods which we used to make.  Some examples are dead ringers for the original.  While others have variations in manufactured process, color, labeling, etc.  To the general public, this goes unnoticed, even with the more recent focus on reshoring efforts.

Materials: Numerous found objects

Video: Non-defined

Description: This work is in its infancy as approach and editing are contemplated.  Desire is to create an immersive experience that the viewer is not presented with identifiable subject matter or imagery.

Desired output is to be projected and may be in a "triptych" or a stereo "diptych" format depending upon the number of video channels and intended space.

Materials:  iPhone (1080p MPEG-4)
